PcAnywhere - which ports to use on a Dell Inspiron
Some things like Ethernet hubs already have RJ-45 ports, other services like POTS or ISDN will have either no port (hard wired), or some other configuration. I agree that patch panels make things very clean and neat, but I seem to be missing some details. The patch panels make it easy to switch all 4 pairs in

You can also opt for the Hawking parallel port to Ethernet (HPS1P) but prices range from $40-$60. However, if you: 1. have a Megahertz PCMCIA card (non 3COM) 2. Only thing is, the card is missing whatever connector is needed to link it to the network. I have heard this referred to as the "pigtail cable." Anyone familiar with it? I'm using the RJ45 port on the card, or at least I'm trying to, so I shouldn't need a transceiver.... Any ideas? I had a similar problem with the bigmac driver under 2.2.19, I think it was. Probably 2.2.17 as well. It just wouldn't shut up about the missing carrier on the transciever or something, even though it

I am using the same RJ45 port for the Linux box as I used for a Windows machine, and had no problem with networking Windows. Also, I had Windows installed on this Linux box before, and the card worked fine. I feel like the card is good, but am missing the boat somewhere. Help! Thanks. Jake

They are the SynOptics Models 2500/2510/2530. Some of the models have 15 pin "D" connectors (2530) and the others (2500/2510) have an RJ-45 for the up port. All have RJ-45 for the UTP down ports. I have 35 total but a couple are missing power supplies. I'm open to trade or sell these. Email to: a...@qnis.net.
