The cable is of the type that looks kind of like a telephone line (I guess that's RJ45). We both have Ethernet cards, but hooking the two computers up doesn't do a thing. Have tried fooling around with Win98 Network settings, but haven't had success.... can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

OT Software help.
You are missing a fact: Both machines are DTE so rx/tx *must* cross or no communication takes place. If you are thinking about the RJ-45 adapters that come Plug one the 9-pin end into your laptop/PC and the 25-pin end into the Sun serial port. Works every time (unless the port is dead or you have plugged a Sun

OT, routers and networking
Some of the models have 15 pin "D" connectors (2530) and the others (2500/2510) have an RJ-45 for the up port. All have RJ-45 for the UTP down ports. I have 35 total but a couple are missing power supplies. I'm open to trade or sell these. I'm interested in a 2/440 HT or mobile. Email to: a...@qnis.net.

Just as others, this unit is missing the cover that slides over the floppy drive to cover it. This is just a plastic cover which slides over to cover it when not in use. (AX/9624C) Each port on the back of the rack comes out to a RS-232 25 pin port and an RJ-45 port for each phone line.

Breaking into a cisco 2501 series router
The 8 or 6 pin RJ 45/RJ 11 converters are easy to find and cheap, and the 8 line cable is also easy to find, just use that stuff. I have had people call into my computer and they get disconnected when they hang up their modem, so as far as I am concerned the 8 wire cable works as is, modem control missing and all.
